octave-general software package provides provide extra general functions for Octave, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install octave-general
octave-general is installed in your system.
Make ensure the octave-general package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep octave-general *
You will get with octave-general package name, version, architecture and description in a table
